Here, we’re kicking off with a list of restaurants in Tokyo, Kyoto, and Osaka, which have been reviewed and frequented by GF travelers. We hope that you, as part of the JOC community, can also contribute to making this a comprehensive list and resource.

If you’re a GF traveler and have discovered an excellent restaurant or food establishment while traveling in Japan, please share the city and restaurant name with us in the comments below, and we’ll gladly add them to the list.

Please note that the information is subject to change according to the establishments, and this is not an exhaustive list of all the GF places in these cities.

Wonderful List! I’m celiac and have found a few places in Yokohama: Bake Lab for delicious GF desserts, Blue Bottle GF cakes, Teddy’s Burger has a GF hamburger/bun, and Mos Burger offers GF pork rolls. There is one GF ramen shop in the ShinYokohama Ramen museum (but you have to pay to enter the museum and then pay for ramen so its a bit expensive). SoYA just opened and it’s supposed to be completely GF, but I haven’t tried it yet.

Hello, Ellen. Thank you for sharing locations in Yokohama!
It’s very helpful! We have added them to our restaurant list. Thank you.🥰

My BanhMi is currently closed, just to let you know. They are doing occasional pop-ups and looking for a new space.

Hi Nicky, Thank you for updating us! We hope you find the perfect location soon. Please keep us posted. 💞

In Tokyo, the Futaba Fruits Parlor in Shinjuku has a full page of GF items, and they are very good at understanding GF needs. Japan, 〒160-0022 Tokyo, Shinjuku City, Shinjuku, 3 Chome−30−13 マルイ本館 5F

Also there is Otaco, a small bakery that sells GF chiffon cakes (and they are delicious!) 3 Chome-5-1 Asakusa, Taito City, Tokyo 111-0032, Japan

Hi Alyssa! THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! Both choices are wonderful. I have to check out Otaco next time when I’m nearby. Oishiso! 🙂
